Rained out...or in...

Today Bill and I finally were able to go outside and enjoy Sicily again.  Yesterday we woke up to thunder and lots of rain, and as soon as we went outside, it started hailing.  SO, we decided to make it a day where we stayed in.  We decided to go buy a movie and g to a local pizzeria to get some dinner.  While we were there waiting for our pizza, the owner started talking to us (in Italian!) about where we were from in America and how he just loved Philly and New York.  This is exactly the kind of experience we had hoped for!  We got to practice our Italian speaking and comprehension since this man didn't know any English.
Speaking of ordering food, we are slowly but surely becoming naturals at living the Sicilian lifestyle.  We have no problems getting meals from the local bakery (like we did for lunch today) and are loving getting to know the people while doing so.
Although we are loving the Sicilian culture, we couldn't help but stop at the local burger place for dinner the night before last.  However, these burgers are not like you and I know them to be.  When you get tomatoes on your burger here, you literally get cherry tomatoes cut in half on your burger.  The roll is also very Italian...way too big and takes away from the taste of the burger itself.  Oh well.  It was a good try. (Bill and I are also dying for a cup of coffee...coffee like we have in America...not espresso.  I've also been craving Buffalo Wings like it's nobody's business.  It's funny what you realize you rely on when it's out of reach.)
After eating our "burger," walking down main street, and doing a little bit of shopping, we came across a concert that was being held in the town center.  They were performing vocal and instrumental Christmas music...what a treat!
Our plans for the next few days include taking a bus or train to the nearby towns of Marsala and Palermo. And we are still anxiously awaiting dinner with Alberto's family!
